In today’s lesson, we got some information about ‘searching on the internet', or 'googling’. When you are talking about googling, people will understand what you are talking about. This is because 80% of all people in the world who use search engines on the internet, use Google. We also saw different search engines, for example Ecosia, Yahoo!, Bing … and many more. It is important to know that there are differences between these search engines. For example, you will you find other links/results when you search on Google than if you would be searching on Bing. This is due to the different algorithm. When teaching in a class for young children, or even as a parent, it is also good to know that there are search engines for children. These search engines work with so-called whitelists. Websites that are safe for children are entered on such a list.
